This year I have made an effort to attempt to get my work and name out there more. Since January, I've submitted entries into several various projects. As one does in writing I always assume I will be rejected, but I must push on. It's my protection from getting too hopeful in my acceptance. To be vaguely specific I've entered into a contest, a NEW literary digital magazine and an anthology book to benefit charity. When I have news, I'll be sure to update. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!

After months of work the audiobook for at the Dusk of Madness is available for purchase on Audible. Get it NOW!!!
I just sent an offer this weekend to a producer to record the audiobook for "at the Dusk of Madness" and she accepted. The plan is to have the audiobook out at the end of November (fingers crossed). it will be available on Audible and Amazon. More updates when I have 'em!
Well. Here we are again, the spooky season is in full gore display. Hope you all are taking in the season's movies (whither scary or comedic, as long as its campy!). I myself tend to wade in between the pair. This is by far my favorite holiday. Setting aside the horror and gore for a minute. To me it's a holiday to think on those who you've loved and lost from years past. My grandmother, Marcelline, she was buried on Halloween. Many people at the time gave my mother grief over that decision. We could not understand why, because it was also her favorite holiday too. She loved seeing all the young boys and girls dressed up in their costumes trick r treating. I mean REAL trick r treating not this trunk r treat cheat. I mean those Halloweens where you, as a child, walked miles upon miles hoping this year to be the year you fill the 30-gallon trash bag with enough candy to hopefully sustain you until Christmas (though there never seemed to be enough no matter the size of the trash bag).
The day has finally come to be, release day for at the Dusk of Madness. Never did I think it would take this much work to prepare a book for a second revised edition. It was a joyful (at times painful) effort to say the least in dusting off these old stories of yesteryears. For many these stories are being discovered for the first time, so I hope you enjoy them like I do!
It looks like the time is nearly upon us. This coming Friday "at the Dusk of Madness" is coming out on its new revised edition under my Devil's Play Publishing brand. For those who already have one of my earlier version it shows a refreshing update to the writing. Also it contains a new short story contained within the Cody / McIntire Mysteries universe. For those not knowing what that one is a new revised omnibus is in the works through Devil's Play, hoping for that in the starting months of next year.
Well, its almost arrived!! I've submitted the revised edition of at the Dusk of Madness in hardcover and Kindle set to drop on September 12th of this year. The revised versions better express my newer style of writing, as seen in A Soul Damns The Soul. Over the next few months there is a lot happening within the confines of Devil's Play Publishing domain. Keep checking back and I'll keep updating when something new pops up.
This summer is turning out to be one busy mad rush of goals set by me, for me. As they are completed life will get back to normal, or rather as normal a pace that is expected. I felt I wanted to post another update of my forward progress. I'm nearly done with the first proofread of my NEWLY REVISED 2nd edition of my short story collection, at the Dusk of Madness. For those of you who may already own the first edition I hate to say I am adding a BRAND NEW short story set within the world of Cody/McIntire. Sorry!!
My hope is to have at the Dusk of Madness ready for publication around the end of August to mid-September. With, hopefully, a surprise mid-October release in celebration of All Hallow's Eve. Everyone cross your fingers!!! Onto the Cody/McIntire Mysteries 2nd REVISED edition, I am planning on released the four books (Coven of the Black Hearts, Army of Clay, Shadow of the Past, and Reaper Comes a Callin') as a single omnibus. Allot of things are brewing here at Devil's Play Publishing!!!! Can't wait for you all to sink your teeth into 'em. I am planning big things!!
Unfortunately, it involved (for a short time) removing my old copies from purchase on Amazon. I still have several copies on my personage if any one wishes to buy my books. Currently I am in the process of editing the grammar mistakes. Being they were written during my novice days, the grammar is mostly simple errors - though errors all the same. I'm not going to give any specific deadlines for these new REVISED editions, but I deeply hope they will be coming along by fall. A Soul Damns the Soul, is still available for sale in ALL formats. Further I am proofreading a collection of new stories for a forthcoming collection, I hope by summer's end. I do feel they are some of the bleakest, darkest stories I have written so far. There is one other project I am working on, which runs horizontal to all my previous projects. Its still in its early infant stages. So unfortunately, I will have to keep this secret for a time longer. Sorry! Hope to tell you more in the coming months. I want to give a big thanks to everyone who's purchased a copy of, A Soul Damns The Soul, whither physical, digital or audiobook. I am also glad by the overall warm reception the book has gotten by all of you. I love the story, no question, since I published it. It is a great contrast to my other books. to that I was sorta worried to see if anyone else liked it, but me. obviously, going with my gut I was correct again.
For the record, I am already 10 pages deep into my next trip down Isolation Road. This story, for my full collection readers, will see the return of an old fiend of ours. This story is progressing nicely and with great vigor and tenacity. I think it will be of equal measure to Isolation Road's first trip. Though I'm still only in the beginning stages. A Soul Damns The Soul's release has created a new furious want to write even more to completion. Now with my promotions for Soul taken care of I can return to my own place of Isolation and bury myself back into my work. This time I have decided to center my focus on only a few direct stories. part of the issue over the past ten years I was stretching myself to thin, as many writers do. I kept getting distracted by newer story concepts and ideas. To this solution, I have decided to focus on roughly only 5 projects, my most promising at the moment and those that I feel can be completed in the near future. to these projects I have 1 play, 2 spooky Maine stories (1-Isolation Road), 2 westerns - with 1 already being of novel length. |
